Enzymes are vital to every human being. These organic protein molecules are responsible for all the chemical reactions that animate living organisms. Also, they are responsible for the break down, absorption, and distribution of essential nutrients that fuels the body. Without enzymes, life would be non existent.
There are three major classifications of these protein molecules: the metabolic enzymes, digestive enzymes, and the food enzymes. And under these classifications are thousands of enzymes that perform specific tasks. Meaning, there are specific metabolic, digestive, and food enzymes that only works on a particular task. For example, the digestive enzyme amylase is only able to break down carbohydrates into simple sugars.
The human body is able to naturally produce both metabolic and digestive enzymes. Food enzymes are derived from raw fruits and vegetables. At birth, the human body is provided with limited amounts of metabolic enzymes and digestive enzymes. As the body biologically ages, the amount of enzymes diminishes. Thus, it needs to be supplemented with additional enzymes through food.
The body's ability to produce only a limited number of enzymes is known as enzyme potential. A person's enzyme potential is dependent on the genes they inherent from his parents. That is why there are those fortunate healthy people who, despite their lifestyle choices get rarely sick. However, there are those who are born sickly.
However, there are ways in which a person can optimize his enzyme potential. This can be achieved through limiting the body's production of digestive enzyme through diet and supplements. Why? It is because the human body is sin constant state of digestion, thus digestive enzymes are working round the clock. Consequently, the body needs to constantly produce the necessary enzymes needed for digestion.
But how can longevity be achieved through diet and supplements? Enzymes derived from food have digestive properties, and along with taking digestive supplements, the body is then required to produce less digestive enzymes. With the decrease in the production of digestive enzymes, the production of metabolic enzymes will then be increased.
And why is the increased production of metabolic enzymes beneficial? Metabolic enzymes are responsible for speeding every biochemical reaction in the body. Thus, by maximizing the production of these metabolic enzymes, great health and well-being can be achieved. Living to a 100 years old or over will no longer be that far fetched.
But then again, people have varied enzyme potential. There are those that have great enzyme potential, yet there are those that have poor enzyme potential. Others however, fall in between. Thus, before altering your lifestyle for the better, check with a health professional which changes will be best for you.
